For most of my life I've been calling it 'July 4th' or the '4th of July' but I am beginning to think we should call the day note for the date but for the purpose we celebrate...
We don't celebrate December 25th...or some sunday in April...or the thursday after the third Monday in November. We celebrate Christmas and Easter and Thanksgiving.
And on the 4th day of July each year we celebrate Independence...it's Independence Day.
