Here we go.
We now just might be on track for the case that could challenge Roe v. Wade.
South Dakota will decide whether to make abortion a crime. (link)
Most people believe that if Roe is overturned, it will mean that abortion will be outlawed around the country. Not true, of course. It simply returns the power to regulate abortion to the states.
Over the weekend, we had the 33rd anniversary of Roe. Protests on both sides.
Is this the opportunity pro-lifers have been waiting for? Will this become the case that goes quickly to the Supreme Court?
Or will it be the case that causes a reaction that doesn't work at all in the favor of pro-lifers? the case that will create the reaction from the pro-aborts that hurts the effort of returning this issue where it rightly belongs...with the states.

WilderStuff
WilderStuff like this is now available.I had been looking for a place for some of my photography...found this...also thought there might be some interest in some of the other things rolling around in my head...check it out...tell a friend. Click on the 'wilderstuff' link to the right or click on one of the images above to browse.
For a brief time, we'll leave all the items up...at some point we'll remove a bunch of them and then roll them out at various times.
But for now and thru the end of the month, we'll leave everything up. Go and take a look around. No one else knows about this yet, so if you have comments, just post them here.
If you have ideas that you would like us to consider, you can post them here or just email them to wilderstuff@wildershow.com.
thanks.
State of Race Relations in America
It's that time of year...every year we have this discussion on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
We'll be talking about it again on Monday.
Are things better than they were just last year? Worse? Why?
I have an answer different from the answer I have given each year that we've been doing this.
You can chime in here or can join us on the radio on Monday...or both.

Alito Hearings Day 2
So the Democrats...lovers of all things women...made the nominees wife cry and leave the room. (WSJ)
The lack of civility in the hearings yesterday expose what is the truth about the Dems position re: Alito: the don't have anything.
The whole thing about CAP (Concerned Alumni of Princeton) is a red herring as was exposed by the announcement at the opening of Day 3 today. All the Rusher papers (founder of the group at Princeton) were gone through until 2 o'clock this morning and yielded not a single thing. Alito does not show up on "on cancelled checks, lists, minutes of meetings, nothing."
In truth, Democrats probably didn't really want the papers released...believing that there was really no 'there' there. Without them released they would be free to suggest that they contained whatever they could sell. With the release of the papers, they must be reviewed...if they are reviewed, the results of the review must be revealed.
The papers were released...reviewed...results announced...nothing there.
It's over. (byron york)
Next red herring, please.

Alito Hearings
Well, the first full day is over in the Samuel Alito Hearings and the second day is underway.
Whatever there would've been from Democrats to derail these hearings would've come yesterday and it didn't...and it didn't because there isn't anything. (byron york details)
All the angst about 'women will die' if David Souter is confirmed...about 'women will die' if Sandra Day O'Connor is confirmed...about 'women will die' if Alito is confirmed...will go in this case the way it has gone in the previous hearings.
President Bush won the election and he has the right to nominate whoever he wishes...those people will reflect the president's worldview...that is as it should be...as it has been. And by the way how it will be again within the next year when the president names another nominee.
This is one of the reasons we vote. This is why elections matter. This is what is so satisfying for the winning side and what is so disappointing for the losing side (whichever is the winning and losing side).
Alito will be confirmed and the domestic legacy of the president will be well on it's way.
Perhaps the most important nomination will be the next one.

"Free" iPod (info)
Free Laptop? Free Mac Mini? Free 30gig Video iPod? Free 60gig Video iPod?
here's a little background: i was highly skeptical when my sister told me about a friend who did this and got an iPod (she didn't want to do it and sure didn't want to tell anyone else about it until she checked it out)...i had every expectation of discovering it was a scam...and was pleased with what i found (link to three articles from reputable outfits below).
one thing i did find (and i just signed up for a newsweek subscription which i read anyway, or you could sign up for a free trial for something, pay the shipping and then cancel it) was that it takes several days for your completion of an 'offer' to register. that made me wary, but after a few days, it showed up as completed.
make sure you turn off your cookie blocker before you do your offer so that it registers.
anyway, didn't want you to think i put something up there that i hadn't checked out.
now you know.

Another Safe Christmas and Holiday Season
If you had told most Americans, including me, on Sept. 12 that we would go thru five Christmases and five New Year's Eves...five sets of bowl games...five World Series...two major political conventions...and more....and that all of that would happen without an attack on the U.S., I think most of us would have said, 'no way.'
But look at us now.
It certainly could change and there are other factors to consider like the patience of the enemy (and they are patient), but I believe the president is a huge reason why we've been as safe as we've been for as long as we've been.

NEW YEAR...NEW STUFF!
Well, here we are with a new year. We put the blog on hold for a while for various reasons but maybe now is a good time to bring it back...new year and all.
it would be nice to have this and our podcast be an off-the-air way to build our community.
anyway...we'll see how it goes...if it's well received and everyone behaves themselves i think it could be good again.
btw, check out our wilder stuff (link to the right)...that's also something i am experimenting with.
happy new year.
